Default Removing spaces and %20's in filenames - 11-30-2007 , 01:52 PM

Greetings. My boss changed hosting to godaddy while I was away on a trip, and
there are many many files that have spaces in them (fortunately not my design)
and whichever program he used changed all the code to have %20's in the links.

I wish to remove the spaces in the filenames and fix the links, is there an
automated process in DW 8? Is there a better way to do this?
No PHP, he wouldn't listen to me and got a Windows server anyway.

Thanks

Jason

well, if you have the site defined in DW, just select the files in question
in your Files panel and rename them. If the site's defined properly, it
should scan for instances of the old filename and update them with the new
filename.

I'd use global find and replace to take care of hyperlinks and then
use a file renaming utility like 1-4a rename
http://www.1-4a.com/rename/download.htm
to remove spaces from file names (images, scripts etc)

This is normal. Spaces are not recommended for use in file/pathnames for
the web, and so servers will replace them with the server-encoded ASCII
value for space, "%20".

The other suggestions are correct, though - get rid of them, and hurry!
