Default Remove Formatting From Text? - 04-01-2009 , 10:19 AM

I'm getting a lot of text from people that has odd formatting in the
text. Some have "Illegal quotes" while others have unwanted returns.

Currently, I'm dropping them into notepad but I'm having to delete the
returns out of the text.

Is there a tool or technique that is commonly used to remove formatting?

I use a free DW extension called Tag Stripper 2.1 by Massimo Foti.
Removes any kind of tag from the body of the document. Handy if you want to
get rid of unwanted tags, like <font>, in just one pass. Works on multiple
files or an entire site.

You can download the extension here. Go to Productivity

It works on any folder. The folder in which all of your sites are
stored, for instance.

Thanks, but that wasn't what I was looking for.

Where are you getting text from?

From a pdf

When I upload product text using a form, it comes out the other end
formatted with unwanted returns.

In addition, the pdf formats the quotes with fonts that cause validation
errors in W3C validation. This could be caused by the Designer using mac
fonts? Not sure what's causing that and i doubt I can find something
that will convert the quotes...
