"Refresh" the chat room

Dear fellows,

I am making a PHP chat room to some of my associate members, but I found that
using the command "REFRESH"
is not good enough and people see the screen quite dificult, just want to know
that are there any other method to
refresh the chat room. Any example URL or sample download?
