zchuss:

Update to 6.1 - can you do that?

Rebuild your site cache (SITE | Recreate Cache...). Does that help?

I am certain that this has nothing to do with the SP4.

I just upgraded last week (also Win 2K) and I have had no such issues. I
can switch from Sites to Assets .. Files to Sites, etc. without issue.

Is that the only thing you've done? Have you done a virus check lately?

If this is the wrong forum, please excuse me.

I recently updated to service pack 4 (Win2K) from service pack 3. I
assume that MS did something screwy (what a surprise!) with Java or some
other element of the O/S, because now I'm having trouble with Dreamweaver.

Specifically, when I attempt to do just about anything under the 'Files'
panel group, I receive a 'fatal exception' and the program hangs. It
happens if I try to delete a file, or if I simply switch from the Sites
tab
to the Assets tab (within the group).

Any insights tips or suggestions are greatly and deeply appreciated.

Regards,
Bob

I'd try Murry's answer. With the same problem, this has worked for me.
