Thanks Murray.

I think you did a good job explaining SSI for me. I've been busy with other
projects at work so I have not got to try it yet though.

So it seems to make sens then that file #2 is basically just a snippet of code
that gets placed into its spot in file #1 creating what would be just like an
ordinary file. So file #2 does not need to include its own html, head, body
tags, etc. I also didn't realize about the .shtml, that may have been part of
my problem because I was calling the #2 file .html.

Thanks again and I can't wait to get a chance to try it.

Correct, but if it DOES contain those tags, then file #1 cannot. The final
result of file #1 + file #2 must yield a valid HTML page.

You can call file #2 anything you want. I recommend *.monkeybutt. It's
file #1 that must be named so that a server parse is triggered.
