Export the image. Apply the hotspot in DW.

hey thanks
but the image is part of a disjointed rollover - how do do I apply the hotspot then?
Thanks

Rule of thumb: never export anything but graphics/images from Fireworks.
Export them into DW and then apply ALL html/javascript/etc. in DW. FW is a
graphics editor not an html/javascript editor. Using their "shortcuts", as
you've just discovered, is not "short", but dangerous.

Export ALL your images into DW, build the disjoint rollover there and then
add a hotspot.

A hotspot is not part of an image. It is part of the page. It will be
present on the page no matter what image is seen in that location. It sound
like you are describing a situation where the following scenario would
apply -

1. You have a page with a disjoint rollover.
2. You want the 'hotspot' to only appear after the image has rolled, and
not before.

Is that correct?

If it is, then you would need to place a 'layer' on the page and insert a
transparent GIF image in the layer. Make the GIF image sized large enough
to encompass the entirety of the desired hotspot. Position this layer so
that it is correctly placed over the incoming image, and hide it.

Now for the rollover, you would swap in the image *AND* show the hidden
layer. This will have the effect of making the hotspot appear in an area
where it was not found before....
