"Murray *TMM*" <forums (AT) HAHAgreat-web-sights (DOT) com> wrote in message news:bguhpk$4b9$1 (AT) forums (DOT) macromedia.com... As I have said before - I think the whole idea of the FW menus is a BIG mistake. Sorry I missed that, 'cause I've been struggling with the popup menu generator in FW. It's worked to a point, but my menu is appearing smack dab in the middle of the page, a long way from the "over" image. Is there any way to set absolute coordinates for the menu? The only thing in FW's Popup Menu Generator is a setting for coordinates relative to the over image, and that's set correctly. I'd also prefer to use my own gifs or pngs for the menu items, but FW 4 wants html text to be entered on their own buttons - not my idea at all. I'd also like the image backgrounds to be translucent. I have a feeling that all this is a pretty tall order, and at this point I'd settle for an opaque submenu in html text that pops up where I want it - adjacent to the right side of the over image. (I looked at Valley Web Designs Popup Image Motivator, but it's not ready for MX yet.) Sorry to ask for a repeat, but if not FW, what IS the best way to create popup menus? Tom |

I took Murray's advice and used the Simple Popup Menu from Project Seven. Aside from one minor glitch it works very well. No transparency, of course, but that wasn't really necessary. The Young Pup method looked VERY cool, but it was beyond my capability at this point. Someday... Thanks! I'd like the backgrounds of my menu items to be semi-transparent, fogging the image under them. The menu borders and text should be opaque, of course. I'd be happy enough with semi-transparent html text blocks, but I'd prefer semi-transparent gifs or pngs. I tried both gifs and pngs. Gifs apparently don't do semitransparency, and my pngs came out fully opaque. (It's possible - likely - that I didn't save the PNGs properly in Fireworks. Any hints would be appreciated.) Youngpup looks pretty cool. I was looking for something to do popups with submenus, and it doesn't look like Youngpup will do that. I know I could |
