I'm using an older Macromedia Studio 8 DW version. I don't really
understand
what DW actually does as it is not very functional in terms of layout and
design.
That really depends on how you're using it and what you're expecting it to
do for you.

I do much of my layout, design and coding in DW CS3 and have done since DW3.

Do you use Design View in DW?

Ditto for me, but I started with DW2.

Its not really a wysiwyg tool.
It's not promoted as one. There is no such thing as WYSIWYG on the web.

Apply yourself. It's an amazingly good tool used only in Code view. What
sorts of things have put you off? And which version are you using?

I tried using design view but it keeps tweaking up my code and it's really
clunky. Its not really a wysiwyg tool. I've been use Photoshop for page
layout
and then code over the graphic file but it makes for slower loading pages.
I
started playing around with Apple's iWeb which is much easier to use but
the
file management leaves much to be desired.

I guess I'll go back to the tedium of hand coding the old fashion way
until I
figure out DW or find another tool.

Thanks,

DC

I'm using Dreamweaver Studio 8 (Macromedia). I can write code in
Dreamweaver in
Code View but I still have to manually line up tables, graphics, buttons
and
other elements, the same process I would use in a text editor so what is
the
point of using DW?
I'm afraid that your workflow escapes me. I can't visualize it.

What are you manually lining up?

How do you lay out your pages?

Without more info, I can't really offer any advice to help you understand DW
more.
