Open the page in DW. Click anywhere within it. Look at the Tag Selector
region (the status bar) on the bottom of the Document Window. Click on
<body>. Apply Snap. Now you will have both onLoad and onResize as events.
The events list is context sensitive. You will not get onResize as an
option unless you have selected something that could be resized.

thank you--that totally solved it. i have one more question about this,
actually--our target audience for this site is profesional businesses that
would hopefully be using more moddern browsers, but just in case, i'm totally
ignorant of what i aught to do to provide an alternate soultion for other
browsers, since some don't support this snap feature. maybe i overlooked it in
the instructions for it, but i didn't really notice any obvious advice for this
sort of thing--i'm guessing they assume users already have a working knowledge
of this stuff. I'd like to avoid screwing myself with this if i can help it.

I'm not aware of any contemporary or even moderately antique ones that do
not support Snap. What is much more of a concern would be if someone comes
to your site with javascript turned off. In this case, nothing would
work....

Provide links on the main menu items (the ones that trigger the snapped
layers) to individual menu pages, that use non-JavaScript HTML for menus.
That main menu item is still hot, even if the JavaScript rollovers and snaps
don't work. The crippled browser displays the finger pointer over each main
menu item. The visitor clicks the main menu button and is directed to a
separate menu page for each of the main menu buttons. Simplicity!

Unfortunately, many web designers don't even consider that there is any
other browser out there, than the one that they are using. You are to be
commended for even asking this question.

that's cool, but i wasn't using the frames for a menu, just to hold content--i
was interested in doing the layered menu thing, but right now my menu is a
library item so i can alter it across the site with ease, and trying to use
frames with a library item seems to make dreamweaver sick and shutdown--so i've
just avoided it. if there's a way to get around that i'd love to hear it.

There is no problem using Library items with frames, other than the problems
with frames themselves.

I assume you meant layers instead of frames, but it makes no difference.
There is no issue using Library items with layers.

any idea why dreamweaver would constantly encounter fatal shutdown every time i
try to use a layer in a libray item, then? not only that, but when i open
dreamweaver back up, the library file seems to be separated from all the files
i've attached it to--it won't automatically update. something is vewry wrong,
but if i can correct for it i'd like to know how.
