I certainly agree with you regarding CSS styles. Of course Dreamweaver doesn't
help, as in its "use CSS instead of HTML tags" mode it will create styles with
no apparent thought or consistency - not as bad as a Microsoft product but
still scary. Then again, though, anyone who DID pepper the page with classes
would not want a keyboard command for them, as it would take far too long to
set up.
The overprofusion of css styles is a serious problem and I wish people would
take time to understand the concepts behind the software. But I said the same
thing when using Word... though there NOBODY used styles.
As far as I know, Dreamweaver has no serious competitors. It had one which it
bought and closed down, but I'd already switched from GoLive to Dreamweaver.
The closest I could think of would be Composer and that's not very close. As
you say, sometimes more than one tool is needed; that's one reason I tend to
have Dreamweaver and BBEdit always open...
And now without further ado I will make the suggestion as you have suggested.
But I still find it hard to believe there's no workaround! |
