I can't do it at all. Is there a fix for this problem??? Please help.

You're not working with templates are you? And that you're trying to do
something in a non-editable region?
Can you post a URL to the page or the code?

This is a page already but with a template. It is editble. Here is some of
the table code.

<table width="634" border="0" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="0">
<tr bgcolor="#FFFFFF" height="17">
<td colspan="5"><font color="#000000"><b>
<table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
<tr>
<td width="24%" height="80"><div align="center"><font size="2"
face="Times New Roman, Times, serif"><img src="Brands/avery_logo.gif"
width="132" height="50"></font></div>
</td>
<td width="76%" valign="middle" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"><font
color="#003d80" size="3" face="Times New Roman, Times, serif"><b>AVERY
PRESSURE SENSITIVE
VINYLS</b></font><font color="#000000"><font size="2"
face="Times New Roman, Times, serif"><strong><br><!-- #BeginLibraryItem
"/Library/red line.lbi" --><img src="/oce9300/c_red.gif" width="485"
height="1"><!-- #EndLibraryItem --></strong></font></font></td>
</tr>
</table>
</b></font></td>
</tr>

I found that the table was done in Fireworks. Does that have something to do with it? I have no idea on how to update that.

Could be, hard to say without seeing the page. Can you post a URL to the
problem page?

Are you in layout mode? If so, get into desgin/code view.

The problem is that unless you know how to tell FW to build nice tables it
will build ones that stink.

<td colspan="5">

It merges colums and rows in an insane way to achieve the exact layout in
your FW image at that moment. This is why you cannot insert a new row or
column - when the table is so fragile with these merged columns and rows,
there's just no way to "insert a column or row".

The solution is to learn how to build good tables - then you can do what you
want to them. Start your education at the table tutorials linked in my sig
at the DW FAQ page.
