besides the windows only utilities for this that Jorg mentioned-
there is a big EXPORT button in the dw menu-->Site-->EDIT SITES dialog box.
select a site from the list, press export- choose "Back Up My Settings" and
dw will save a .ste file to disk. You can later double-click on the .ste
file, or use the big IMPORT button in the Edit Sites dialog box.
It may take 5 or 10 minutes of repeated button clicking to export a long
list of site defs-- but they will be backed up.

Just redefine your sites - no problems. Takes no time at all to redefine once
you go to your files dWm is quick to show you. The problem i had was with a
power surge (computer restart) and then i thought i lost everything, i dont
understand but the only problem i had was the site list showed nothing.
Similary with upgrading from 6.0 to 6.1 my mate said that his defined sites
disappeared
