I have the same problem. I keep getting a fatal exception when I open more than one file type at the same time.

After reading through the forums to get help, none of the suggestions for a fatal exception worked (rebooting, rebuilding the cache, duplicating the site)

When Murray posts , he asks for specific information. So, here's mine :
1. What is your OS? - Windows 2000 Professional 5.00.2195 Service Pack 3
2. What is your AntiVirus?McAfee VirusScan w/SP v4.5.0.534
3. Is your AntiVirus doing realtime protection? It better be!
4. What is your Firewall? Checkpoint
5. What other background programs are running? When this happened - Visual Source Safe, Outlook, Internet Explorer 6.0
6. What extensions do you have installed? Too many to mention - problem happened well after install.
7. Where are your 'local' files? Are they on a network shared drive? These are on my machine. This drive is shared with the network.
8. Have you ever been able to run DMX or is this a recent failure? This is a recent failure (July 8, 9, and now 10)
9. Does this only seem to happen with certain files/sites? I've only been working on the one and haven't attempted to replicate the problem elsewhere. It always happens when I open more than one file type at the same time. (for example, a .cfm and a .css) It has happened when I only have one file type (usually .css) open.
10. Does recreating the site cache (SITE | Recreate Site Cache) help? It didn't help.

I am using MX suite v.6.1

Yesterday, I also got an unrelated DW error :
While executing DWSIteFileMenuPopup_Clearn command in menus, the following javascript errors occurred - exception throw in native function.
This was while attempting to rename a file in DW.

I also received an error I didn't document when moving a file to a different folder.

Thanks for any help!

Cathline:

Sorry you are having this problem.

You mean like an HTML file and a js file? It crashes?

Not necessarily. This can suck the heart out of your system, particularly
when running an app that opens and closes hundreds if not thousands of files
over and over (like DW). At least exclude the Macromedia folder hierarchy
from your scanning.

You'd better mention them. 'Too many to mention' certainly suggests a
stinker extension has been installed. The only way to know is to uninstall
them all and go through the list systematically. You can make your job a
bit easier by verifying that all of them are the latest version and are in
fact DMX compatible.

And are others on the network using the same local sites for their
development work?

What extension did you last install prior to that time?

This is *nearly* diagnostic for either a corrupted cache or a bad extension.

Do let me know how you get on....
