it's to do with the "Code outside of template is locked" feature
which doesnt seem to work properly anyway. set to true or
false it still throws problems for me (PC/MX 6)

IMO it would be better to have some code locking mechanism for DW templates
that was part of the app,
rather than embedded in the document code.

i've resorted to editing the pages in notepad

And allied to this, can anyone please tell me why I get an error message when editing something like a title of a page (in the headers) that I have clearly and correctly marked as EDITABLE in my template?.

Anytime I update the page title I get an error message telling me that I've changed code that is in an UNeditable region, and "do you want to continue anyway"...) Well, uh YEAH.

And this is illogical, Captain, since DW won't LET you alter uneditable code in a temple, will it? It just complains and says no-can-do.

Trouble is, when I have to reapply the template for any reason, all my page titles are wiped out and replaced by the dummy title contained in the template.

It works properly. The error message is thrown when the template engine
tries to change some code somewhere on your page and cannot because that
part of the page is locked.

It means that you have a coding error on the page. Show me the page please.
