Hi guys,
Along this same line, I have a site wrapped in a centered table. Within that table, I want to add a news scroller. In this case I need to align the layer to a fixed position in the table, not the window for it to align properly on resize and reload. Anyone have an example of this working?

Thanks all!
-Stu

Hi Stu,

If you draw a layer in your table, set the overflow to auto, and the
position to static, it will flow with your table, and be scrollable by
mouse. Check this one out, and resize the window to see it flow:

An other way is to use Project Seven's ( http://projectseven.com ) Snap
Layers extension to "snap" your scroller to an image in your table.

Aloha,

Jerry

Jerry:

You get the moose pucky award. This is bad advice for two reasons.

NN4x won't tolerate the layer in the table, and layers don't do scrollbars
well.

The only reliable solution is to use a dHTML scroller like one at PVII, and
to keep your layers out of your tables.

So I am back to the "Snap" solution from ProjectSeven.

Here is where I left off last night...I have the news scroller working, it contains 3 layers IIRC(background, text, and mask). So with snap, do I need to snap all 3 layers or will any child layers move as long as the parent is snapped properly?

Thanks!
-Stu

Stu:

Snap the parent layer. All child layers are positioned relative to the
parent.

You can see this happening on my site - the sliding menu snaps with the
parent.
