The notes folders are driving me nuts

I've done that. They still re-appear. I have search this forum and many users are having the same problem.

sorry the post appeared so many times - for some odd reason, hitting
reply had a bunch of other "to" fields populated. I didn't notice and
hit send, got an error and tried again. On removing them, the send
worked. I didn't realize that it sent anyway, despite the error
indicating it couldn't.

my bad, I'll be more careful itf.

not sure which news reader you are using, but just wanted to point out that
your reply runs right beneath your quoted text, so that it is pretty hard to
see when the quote ends and your reply starts. Do you think you could leave
a blank line before your reply :-)

In addition to what Donna suggested, you need to uncheck "Maintain
Synchronization Information" in the Remote information of the site
definition.
