I haven't a clue what's causing the problems. As far as I see, there's
nothig wrong with that form. The only thing I can say is:

You wrote in the first post that this happens in *design* view. Now
you're saying it's in "layout* view. If you're using *layout* view, get
out of it a.s.a.p. Use *design* (a.k.a. "standard") view and/or code view.
