As you know that Dreamweaver CS4 has 2 options for XHTML Page

Transitional
Strict

What type is mostly used by Professionals like You People?

I don't include myself in the "Professionals like You People" category but I
reckon it's a decision you'll have to make yourself. Personally, I always
start with Strict based on the notion that it seems like the right thing to do.

Pick the one that your skills with HTML can support. I suggest you consider
starting with HTML4.01 Transitional.
