I am trying to display a table-like layout in CSS like this:

Row1 Cell1 Cell2 Cell3
Row2 Cell1 Cell2 Cell3
Row2 Cell1 Cell2 Cell3

Why don't you use a table?

You have picked the wrong thing to tackle for your learning exercise.

I could show you such a page, but it would have a table on it.
