Hi I have uploaded the code to http://www.2gee.com It seems that the
stylesheet created and attached to the template is not being attached to any of
the pages created with the template. The pages, however, render OK in the
browsers - it's just in Dreamweaver Design view that none of the stylesheet
features are shown. Under the CSS tab it shows no styles defined. If I
subsequently attach the stylesheet to the page everything look fine in
Dreamweaver Design view and in the browser. If I then make changes to the
template and update the pages then everything reverts back to no styles
defined. With regard to XHTML I have no reason to offer. I think that the
checkbox is checked when I create new pages. Do you advise not to check this
box? Thanks

I advise you not to use XHTML unless you have a good reason to do so. That
checkbox is not checked by default, so you must have checked it to begin
with. Using XHTML can cause problems for you. Coding to strict HTML4.01 is
just as valid and will not cause the same problems.

Your template code appears to have no problems. Can you now point me to a
child page, please?

Thanks for replying. I have uploaded a child page to the same link www.2gee.com
Your help is greatly appreciated. As I said this problem happened mid way
through creating the site and when the page is viewed in DW it appears that
there are no style sheets attached but if you preview the site in the browsers
everything look fine.

Can you link me to the actual page rather than one where the code does not
render?

Sorry for keying off this URI, but why are you using XHTML? Most people
will say because it produces valid code. But you may want to check this
result out -

http://tinyurl.com/7xgvw

Anyhow, I don't see why you would have any problem with this page in DW.
All links to stylesheets appear to be correct.

Thanks for your assistance. It's puzzling because the problem is still there in
DW. I'm not sure I understand all of the results of the link you gave regarding
XHTML validation. I guess the moral is not to use XHTML - is there any way to
revert a page back to plain HTML once it has been created? Thanks again

The moral is to not use XHTML unless you understand why you are using it.
Otherwise, you can get caught.

You can revert a page from XHTML by changing the doctype, and by doing a
page-wide find and replace to find this -

/>

and replace with this -
