when I made my #navlist position:relative it then put part of my footer at the top!!

Now what??

Humm..... well keep the #navlist positioned absolute and the drop menus
absolutely positioned as well. Just insert the drop menus outside the
absolutely positioned #navlist, not inside it.

As your page is not fluid, ie it doesnt not move with the widening or
narrowing of the browsers view port all of yuor menu stuff can be
absolutely position.

I notice you say you need to use 'snap' from PV11, why? You only need to
use snap when the page is of a fluid construction, yours isnt.

This should be like shelling peas really.
