Well I'm going to explain how to get the window on that I think your missing...

Hit "window" then select "insert"
you'll see a navbar with a calender and stuff on it right click that and
select "document" you can close insert if you want now.

Dose that solve your problem or was I talking about a whole other thing?

Shoot, nope. I had the document toolbar open anyway. Maybe I'm not supposed to
have the title bar of my new documents visible in Dreamweaver's document
window. I'm talking about underneath all the toolbars and actually inside the
window, showing the title bar with the minimize, maximize and close buttons.
Like it appears at the top of browser windows. You know?
