quick question: why is dreamweaver so buggy?

out of all the software i've used, i gotta say that DW (all versions)
has consistently been the worst title on my HD. i have freeware that's
more stable.

any thoughts?

Because it is so powerful. It is a great deal of power to harness. And
btw, if you think Dreamweaver seems "buggy," try NetObjects Fusion, which I
just migrated from. It doesn't have near the power DW does, as far as I can
see, and my early assessment on DW is that Dreamweaver is considerably more
stable.

Steeper learning curve, to be sure. :-p

I only had problems when I had little RAM. When I maxed out my RAM, no

problems.

What are your full system specs?

What other software are you running?

What AV?

Do you have any specific issues?

You've mentioned buggy and stability. Neither of these means much without
some reproducible, verifiable symptoms. Can you say what you find the
problem with DW?

You say all versions of DW but each version is very different so it's
unlikely that all the symptoms have been all the same all the time.

Have used other softwares before and always found DW reliable, particularly for a softrware that can do so much for you, server side coding etc

Version 4 was good...
MX major problems...
MX 2004 is good so far...

Those have been my experiences.

My guess? It's the Norton-DW combo doing you in.

I'm running DWMX2004 on an XP Pro box: P3 900MHz with 512MB RAM. I
can leave it running for days with no problems.

But I use a router with a firewall, and McAfee for virus prevention.
