question on templates

I'm a new user and I'm having a problem updating pages made with a template. I
have a table on the left side of my template that contains common links (i.e. :
"about us", company history", "home", etc.) that I want to show on all my
pages. However, I suspect that I don't have it tagged correctly somehow because
it doesn't update to pages made with the template when I change the template.
The template does update the other pages ir I cjange color scheme or font.
Please help - I'm a newbie but I'm stuck!

Is the navigation inside an editable region? Only changes made to the
non-editable region of your template willl propagate to the child pages.

If that's not it, then please post a link to a child page and tell me what
you were trying to change in the template.
