It will. Norton is not easy to disable. What you are describing is
characteristic of Norton's interference - which is why it has been banished
from my environment for decades.

Hi,
I dissabled Norton but that didn't fix the snag.

When I go to Manage Site>Testing Server> it shows :
Server model: None
Access: FTP
Host Directory is blank
Also...Use Passive FTP,Firewall and Secure FTP are ALL unchecked.

Additionally, when I attempt to upload and F12 I get a window:
Update Copy Of Testing Server?
This will update the file on testing server.
This might affect others working on the file, proceed? and then I click
Yes.

I hope this helps, thanks.
Alex

Hi,
I actually made a brand new links page and uploaded it with Norton off. I also
updated some pages with that new links page.
With Norton turned off I can view it on the Net. When I flip Norton back on I
can't view it.
There is danger in doing this right? Is there something controling my pages? I
never had to do this before.
There are 2 banners that have been up on top for a long time and they don't
seem to be affected at all, only
the recent ones of about 2 weeks ago or so.
If you don't use Norton what do you use? My links page doesn't work, not
good...what do I do now?
Thanks,
Alex

Ok, this will add to the confusion if anyone is viewing this.

I went to another page and didn't make any changes at all, I just clicked F12
and a window came up stating: ... 123? jpg is newer on the remote
server, do you want to overwrite it? Yes, Yes to all, No, No to all, Cancel.

I didn't even make a change to the page.
Is this a Trojan or Virus or something else?
Alex

I don't use Antivirus at all. I am behind a router, and my PC never sees
email....

If I did use antivirus it sure wouldn't be Norton.

Hi,
DW was working perfectly for months with Norton. Now it doesn't.
Don't most people use Norton or something like it?
I had my whole system configured to work with DW and Norton and now something
is 'off'' .
DW is the only ap that is not working correctly or so it seems.
Surely there is something else that can be done in order for me to use DW with
Norton.
What do you suggest I do now that my options seem to have been cut back?
I came from Mac not long ago so this all seems strange to me. Beside the
Norton issue what else could it be?
Thanks,
Alex

Dear Macromedia,
Does one have to purchase the new Studio 8 to get timely assistance with their
software?
I have Studio MX04 . I have been trying to fix a snag with DW since this
morning.
I do understand that volunteers are assisting with this forum and do
appreciate their help very much.
Are there any others at MM that might want to join in and help them help us?
While my post has a high thread count, I seem to be talking to myself alot.
Any assistance to get me on my way would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Alex

:confused;
I'm having a problem uploading also. I do not have norton installed at this
time. When i had norton there wasn't a problem. I get a message that says the
I'm connecting to the testing server but when i try to upload or view the files
existing files on the server (-this is happening to all the sites i work on.)
The message says something about the time on the server is not correct.
I don't have a clue and I desperately need to upload files. Any help would be
great.
Thanks

If you want to communicate with Macromedia, you must contact them directly -
this is a user to user forum, and is not a formal support vehicle.

Your problem is in the configuration of Norton's firewall. You yourself
have demonstrated that when Norton is disabled, you can connect.
Investigate that configuration to solve your issue.

Please don't hijack someone else's thread. Start a new one with this
