Default Problems with Div text not showing up - 11-09-2004 , 01:07 AM

I've been trying to figure this out for the last 48 hours and being a relative
newbie doesn't help. OK, here's what is going on...

I created my background in Photoshop.I did my rollovers and slicing in
ImageReady, saved my HTML and images and everything was going along really
smoothly. I opened up my background HTML file in Dreamweaver, and put a div
into it to put my text in because I hate tables with a passion (it's a personal
thing.). Well, I added in some CSS to the div and now when I preview in
browser, my text does not show up, my background works perfectly, but to see
the text, I have to Ctrl+A to see any of it. The CSS is being completely
ignored. What am I doing wrong?? HELP!!

Using imageready to make your html for one. Its the wrong way to go.

"Using imageready to make your html for one. Its the wrong way to go."

OK...thanks for that useful piece of info!!!

HI, that's not helping. That's being rude.

Seriously...what exactly should I do about this? I'm lost and my teacher
really sucked.

It wasnt meant to be rude, sorry you took it the wrong way. It was meant
to be informative to persuade you to think about not using imageready to
automatically create your html code.

Its difficult to say unless you upload the page somewhere and give a
link to it. You might get an answer, you might not depending on if
anyone can see the issue which may be causing this straight away.

Most of the time exporting html from this sort of program causes bloated
and messy code. People wont spend a lot of time trying to troubleshoot
code which they consider beyond help, well I wont at least, its really
not worth the effort.

Post the code and I'll keep my fingers crossed that someone can supply
the answer for you.

I found out what the problem was...it was my stylesheet, apparently somehow the
external stylesheet wasn't being recognized!!! I got the problem corrected!!
For the moment, I've embedded the CSS in the file and now it works great!

Thanks for trying to help...I guess it was just a matter of time until I had
exhausted every avenue!! It wasn't my coding that stank, I had actually
trimmed down quite a bit of the unnecessary code! Now I'm sleek and rockin'!!

Thanks again!
