Default Problem w/FW files... - 11-26-2004 , 12:43 PM

:confused; When I double click a FW file within my local files window I get the
following message: ! Unable to launch Macintosh HD: Applications: Macromedia
Fireworks MX. Please be sure that this application exists and that there is
enough memory to run it. (OK) Now I can open FW, but just not when
double-clicking on a FW file as stated above Help _________________ 1G PB 1G

Assuming you are running required maintenance scripts on a regular basis
(cron, permissions, re-prebinding), I think you need to delete the
launch service caches, which roughly corresponds to "rebuilding desktop"
in OS9. I don't know the sudo command for this, but using an excellent
system utility named Xupport which you can get here:

Do you feel this app is better than or equal to: MacJanitor or Onyx -??
'Cause I do run Onyx about once a week.

I don't know. All those utilities have slightly different features,
AFAIK. But the point is not which software you are using. The point is
what the software does for you, regardless of its name. Are you running
the maintenance script? If so, which ones? Can you delete the launch
service caches with MacJanitor or Onyx? If so, do it, because that's
what I think you need to do.
