Default problem with IE6 sp2 - 08-17-2004 , 06:06 PM

Hello,

I updated WINXP PRO to Service Pack 2.
Now Internet Explorer blocks some scripts created with Dreamweaver MX 2004.
Such as "Jump Menu", and "Swap Image / Swap Image Restore"...

Do you experienced the same problem ? I suppose Macromedia is/will be aware of
that, so what's the solution ?

I know that changing the advanced security settings could resolve the problem,
but you know that most of the visitors won't do that because it's too
complicated (and it's not _normal_ to HAVE TO, just for a simple mouse over,
whenever it has been created with dreameaver or...frontpage ? :P).

I'm not a dev, and i must admit that the built-in scripts work very well for
me !

Thanks for your help !

Pulptoy
sorry for the english

The default settings do not block scripts. SP2 picks up whatever your
settings were before the upgrade and keeps them. What SP2 does do by
default is it locks down files on your local hard drive. The only
affect, therefore, is with local files previewed on your own computer.
If you are viewing a web page that resides on YOUR HARD DRIVE,
JavaScript, Flash, and all Active X will be blocked. This DOES NOT
affect files on the INTERNET.

As per an MSDN tech note, this is easy to change:

To enable viewing active content in files that are on your local hard
drive:
In IE, Choose Internet Options / Advanced
Scroll down to the Security Heading
Enable the following setting:
"Allow active content to run in files on my computer"
