Default Probably a Simple Fix? - 11-08-2005 , 10:03 PM

I'm new to Dreamweaver MX 2004, and am in the process of taking a class and
setting up a new personal site. When I preview my page in Explorer (and I'm on
a Mac if that makes any difference), and click on a button I've placed, it
highlights it with a gag ugly blue border. As a matter a fact, all buttons
display this property when clicked. I've checked the general preferences, but I
don't see it. The instructor wasn't any help either. Any advice would be well
appreciated. As soon as I finish the site, I'm done with the class!!

Thanks,

AK

What type of buttons are you using? Flash, or the regular form buttons? You
could add a defined border to them in your CSS, but that will just look blocky
and such, depending upon which type you're using.

Can you post a URL for us to look at.

Thanks so much for your quick response. Oh Boy. Post a URL... Hmmm. If I knew
how to do that... I would... that makes me feel like a real loser! I've created
the button in Illustrator CS2, made it a jpg in photoshop CS2, and inserted it
into the page... They're all rollovers and aside from that border showing up
when you click on them, they're beautimus. If you educate me on how to post the
url... I'd be more than willing.

Thanks!

AK

the blue border you're seeing is the way IE Mac tells the user this
button or link is selected. It's got nothing to do with your design, and
you can't turn it off.

Via CSS, you can mask it with another colored border.

Or you can remove it altogether. But it's an accessability thing. By
removing/masking it, you are affecting those who rely on it....

You haven't tried that.
You can't, for practical reasons: The blue line is more than one pixel
wide, it glows, and it has no physical width in the layout, only visual
width. It's an effect that IE5 Mac adds ON TOP of your page.
