Default print friendly pages - 06-22-2004 , 03:15 AM

I have created a site that I want to add a print friendly option for.

My technical skills are fairly basic so I am looking for a simple option if possible.

Thanks

Depends how you've built your pages. If you used straight HTML then you'll
have to build plain text HTML printer friendly pages. If your loading content
from say PHP, then all you have to do is load your data into a new template
like 'printer.php' and format the text with CSS.

I have just used HTML to populate the site.

So should I create a basic html page called 'about_print' for example and have
a link from the about page.
To populate the page I just add the plain text copy in.

This means that the user will view the about page, click on the print friendly
link to view the basic page without header and footer etc. Then print the page
as normal.

Is this correct?

Google for 'print CSS' or 'print stylesheets'

The quickest and easiest that I have done for printer friendly pages is to
put the content in pdf files with Adobe Acrobat. Then, you don't have to
figure out any page size issues, etc. -Judy
