Default preview page locally or remotly - 07-12-2008 , 05:06 AM

hello

i have just recently wiped my computer and reloaded all my software.
i am working with dreamweaver 8. i have just uploaded all my web pages to my
webserver host.

my problem though, is where before, if i tested a web page, it was
automatically saved, uploaded to my web host, and displayed remotely, i.e on
the real web, it is now viewed locally from my c drive.

does anyone know what step i have missed?

This is a very dangerous option to enable. Why do you want to do it this
way?

it's just the way i like working, and it's quicker. i had it this way for ages,
but cannot remember how to set up this why.

also, i have been writing scripts that need to connect to my database on my
web server, so this is the way i want it done.

do you know how, or what step i have missed?

I believe the option you are looking for is in the Remote site definition,
under "Automatically upload files to server on save".

You don't have to use this dangerous option to achieve that. I do it this
way all the time with local previews. Just point your Connection to the
remote site's data server.

I don't like this option because one stupid mistake hoses both your local
and your remote file. That's why I say it's dangerous.

Testing server definition in the Site Manager's Edit function.

Do you have two sites defined? Are the Remote sites the same for both?
