Default Preview In Browser Problem - 09-20-2006 , 01:31 AM

I just changed from earthlink DSL to cable and the preview in browser function
doesn't work on Dream Weaver MX2004. It may be a coincidence, but I had just
used it before the cable installation and it worked ok. The cable dsl seems to
be working properly.

PIB has nothing to do with your internet service provider.

What happens when you try? Do you have a testing server defined? Do you
need a testing server (that is, are you building and testing pages with
server-scripting)?

I'm with Murray, it's kind of doubtful. But one thing comes to mind. I
recently switched from DSL to cable with Comcast and you have to run an
install program on your computer which, among other things, brands IE and
Outlook with the Comcast logo. It took registry hacks to get rid of it.
Depending on your cable installation, **maybe** something changed in IE that
needs to be changed back. Or DW isn't recognizing it because it was
registered again? Okay, I'm grasping at those proverbial straws, but they
can mess with your browser.

I recently upgraded to Dreamweaver 8.0.2. Now previewing to IE take 5-10 seconds. Reinstalled and worked initially, but now very slow to preview again. I think it has to do with the 8.0.2 update.

Are you previewing dynamic pages, or pages with a testing server not on your
local computer, or pages with a local site not on your local computer?

I am previewing web pages using the temporary file feature on a local site and
not with a testing server. It takes about 5-10 seconds to open an IE browser.
Works fine within Firefox. No AV or other filtering software involved.
