Jackeltree, It's not a question of whether this goal is possible in Dreamweaver, but rather a question of whether it's possible in HTML. That's an important difference! By definition, a frameset simply loads other pages, which means the frameset itself must fit within the browser's view port. Framesets, then, are always 100% wide. But depending how you size the frameset's individual frames, you can center them ... for example, you could have a center frame set at 500px and a frame on either side set to percents such that the middle frame appears centered. Just be aware that framesets are arguably a thing of the past. Many people on these forums are against them, and there are good arguments against framesets in general. You may see a few reply posts to that effect. David stiller ( at ) quip ( dot ) net |

I hate them, seriously they bug me, I'm having nightmares and a lot of people that are close to me are seeing weird behaviour patterns from me when I've been on a framed site. I was involved in a fight just yesterday with lollipop lady, I just lashed out at her, it was only after this incident that it occurred to me that I had visited a framed site just 15 mins prior to this. Can I sue? Cheers Pablo |

Many designers still love framesets |

Many designers still love framesets because it is the only reliable way to have your navigation and branding always on screen. As long as the alternatives are buggy frames are no thing of the past. Just another tool in the toolbox.
