Default Pop up browser- basic info - 08-20-2004 , 02:11 PM

Hi
I need to have a small browser window open up when a hyperlinked word is
double clicked.

The main idea is that currently my page is too long and I would like to add
some content via the proverbial "Click here to read more" but not take them to
whole new webpage but just open a small pop up window with a few content lines .
Please help!
Thanks
YGs.

What's "long"?
The weight of a page should not exceed 45Kb, images included. If it's
more than that, split it up in as many extra pages as required.
Don't implement popups unless your entire presentation will fail
completely without them. They suck.

Depending on what you're doing, you could use the Open Browser Window
behavior to open a small page with the info. It it's really just explaining
a term in a few lines, consider using the Set Text as Layer behavior....or
creating a layer and use the Show/Hide layer behavior.

So many ways to behave, so little impetus......

Hello Thanks for the reply.

1. By long I mean it needs to much scrolling. The size/weight is not a problem
since its not graphic heavy.

2. Since its a few lines I would like to explore the set layer and Open
browser window option. Though I think I need help and more detailed
instructions of how to implement them. Currently I see them in the behaviour
section but they are not highlighted so cannot experiment with them. Thanks a
bunch for your help.

YGs.

Create a link in your text by highlighting the text and entering
"javascript:;" in the Property Inspector for the link (that's javascript
colon semicolon....no quotes). Then hit F1 and read the help section on
those behaviors. Then play with them.

Okay the problem was with my software itself. I had to reinstall it. Unlucky uhh!

Though the Open Browser window works .. Thanks a million.
