Default PLs help with Netscape/Dreamweaver problem - 12-05-2007 , 09:35 PM

I am a newbie with Dreamweaver, trying to design a website for my nephew's
busines. Developed 3 versions of a home page and one, at
www.interweb39.com/index-marble.htm is acting strange in Netscape. Netscape
puts a large space between 2 parts of the header graphics. It is OK in IE, and
I can't find any reason for the gap in the code. Please help to find a way
around this problem.
Thank you much!

I guess you've fixed this now?

Thank you for replying, but no, I could not fix the problem. The Netscape
version I have is 6.2. It adds a 1/4 inch space between the top header and the
keys, where it should be something like 5 pixels.
Which Netscape version did you looked at in? Can you tell me how can I check
my pages in more browsers? That would be a great help too, much appreciated!

Humm I dont have Nutscape to check in as it's a browser which is not
used much theses days.

It's maybe because you are using height in your table cells and that has
never been supported by the specifications, so Nutscape maybe not
handling it as you would expect. You might try getting rid of the height
in your 1st/2nd and 4th table rows becauses the images within them will
hold them at the correct height. Cells will collapse around images
holding them snuggly. In you 3rd row you might want to try getting rid
of the height and putting a transparent spacer gif in its place to hold
that cell at the desired height.

As for checking in other browsers well you just download them from the web.

Main ones to check in are IE6 and 7, and Firefox. I wouldn't worry too
much about Nutscape. I haven't heard that browsers name mentioned in
years around these parts.

Height for the TD and TH elements was in the specifications, but has
been deprecated. See
http://www.w3.org/TR/html401/struct/....html#h-11.2.6 and scroll down
to the last of the attribute definitions.

That said, the OP mentioned Netscape 6.2 and all of the Netscape v6.x
versions were really buggy. If the page renders correctly in v7, I
wouldn't worry about it.

You're welcome, Marianne. Like I said, I wouldn't worry about Netscape
6.x at all. Good luck!
