Default please help, I'm having a DSN breakdown - 07-15-2003 , 11:04 PM

Hi guys,

I've created a dynamic site that uses a simple access database. When I test it on my computer, it works great. I uploaded it to my remote server, and I can't submit forms anymore. I get this error:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified

/midwayst/pages/index.asp, line 14

The tech support guy got back to me and said "You must upload the database and setup a DSN to point to it. After doing that you must configure your ASP script to connect to the DSN you set up."

I uploaded the database and setup a DSN to point to it, now what? I have to congifure my ASP script to connect to the DSN? How do I do that?

In dreamweaver, I setup my remote server as the testing server. Then in the database area, I tried to connect "using DSN on testing server". I thought I'd see this DSN pop up in the list but, it didn't. There is no list, the box is empty. Does this prove anything?

Please help me.

Hi nancy,

The tech support guy got back to me this morning with this:

"I see that you have a DSN set up already in the control panel which is great, in your ASP script there should be an area where it asks for a source name or a path, you would either type in your DSN or the path that is right next to the DSN in the control panel "E:/web......."."

Now, my "ASP scipt" means the code? Am I supposed to change the code for each and every page in my site? I've got to do this every time I upload a site?

I still can't see the DSN on the remote/testing server through Dreamweaver. The tech support guy seems to be dodging this question.

Thanks alot for your help,

artane
