Default PLEASE HELP!! - 10-23-2005 , 09:06 AM

Hi - Please somebody help me - i'm pulling my blinking hair out here!

I've changed over from Front Page to Dreamweaver 2004 MX, and i'm expierending
problems uploading the webpages i've created onto my ISP PWP. I've entered all
the correct information in the FTP box within the Manage Sites section, and
even tested the connection, and it comes back successfull. However, i've
clicked the blue up arrow 'Put Files' and it asks 'are you sure you want to
put the entire site' i click ok, then it confirms its connected to 'dreamweaver
website' which is the name of my website i've created within Dreamweaver,
however when i check my pwp it hasn't updated?????

I'm pulling my blinking hair out here - somebody please tell me what i'm doing
wrong, Front Page seemed a lot easier to publish than this Dreamweaver! I seem
to be wasint so much time trying to perform something so simple, i've read the
help files and i seem to be doing everything correctly? Any ideas anyone?

Please tell me what you have in the FTP Host, and the Host Directory field
of the Remote site definition in DW? Then tell me when you connect to the
site, what folders do you see in the Remote site file list (in the DW File
Panel)?

Also .. this is very basic but may be that permissions are not set properly
for the folder where you want to upload ?

Hi cindyding0412,

Maybe we're posting in the wrong section, as there doesn't seem to be many replies!!

Or maybe everybody on here are learners!

Well, if you would answer Murray's question, I'm sure he will try to
help you further. :-)

Seems to me, this forum is set up for professional users and you don,t seem to
get to much help unless you can understand all the technical jargon that is way
over most learners head. I'm looking for a forum more inclined to help
learners, I will post when I find one.

This is the right place, but here's how it works:

1. You post a question.
2. If someone can't answer the question right away, they post some
questions for clarification.
3. You answer the questions asked in the reply. If you don't understand
the questions, or don't understand how to answer them, then you ask for
help.

See - unless you follow that sequence, then the thread devolves into someone
screaming for help and talking to themselves and lots of others attempting
to help and feeling frustrated.

Get it?

Let's try step #1 - what is your question?

And by the way, try to be friendly to others who might benefit from any
answer posted here by using a more descriptive subject line. If you think
about it, every post here could have a subject line of "Please Help!", and
then the subject would be of no use to anyone.
