So if i was to re-set my site in Selfcare on my ISP website, and the Telewest page comes up whenever i visit my site name, and then attempt to upload a site to my PWP, if the new website hasn't got any pages named 'Index.htm(l)', 'Default.htm(l)' etc., etc., are you saying the files will still be uploaded to my PWP but i won't be able to see it unless i browse for that particular file? |
Also, who is responsible for naming a file/page index.htm(l)/default.htm(l) etc., is it the user, |
And how do you know what name your ISP uses? |
Frontpage must have automaticaly known somehow as i never had a problem with that program. |

And therefore all i'll be seeing each time i enter my website name in the browsr will be the Telewest Title Page? Also, who is responsible for naming a file/page index.htm(l)/default.htm(l) etc., is it the user, or does dreamweaver do it automatically? And how do you know what name your ISP uses? Telewest don't seem to be overly clear on their requirements - Frontpage must have automaticaly known somehow as i never had a problem with that program. |

Right Guys!!! I've just managed to reset my site in the selfcare section of my ISP website. I then uploaded a test site to my personal webspace, and then i deleted the index.htm file and renamed my testhomepage - index.htm (did this using the remote view in dreamweaver) and guess what! It worked!!!! I was then a little worried that i wouldn't be able to get my own website loaded back up, but i just reset it again in the selfcare section of my ISP website, then i uploaded my proper site and then deleted the index.htm of my ISP homepage, so that i only had the one - i.e., the one in my website and its all back again!!! The reason i was having so much of a problem before was because i didn't realise you had to call your homepage index.htm, and delete the other, i only learnt that from you nice guys on this forum posting up and helping me, so Murray, Alejandro, Malcolm, Hywell Harris, and everybody else out there that have helped me over the past few days - Thanks Very Much!!! I really wouldn't have got to the bottom of it if it wasn't for you guys. I think Telewest should really make reference to the problem i've been experiencing, as for a newbie its not obvious. Anyway, Murray you have the patience of a Saint!! Thanks very much everybody - but you probably haven't heard the last of me yet, as my next objective will be to get a hit counter soughted out - but i've searched this forum and its thrown up a few suggestions, so for the time being i'll be experimenting with them and see how far i get. Thanks again lads. Soni |
