Play a Sound

I would like to play a sound safely in different browsers on load of a
particular page. The Play Sound behaviour doesn't work in Firefox as Firefox
requires a Quicktime plug in (even though I have Quicktime 7.3 already
installed) and anyway I can't have "get plug-in" messages or users will go
elsewhere. It works fine in IE7. However, the Play Sound behaviour is marked
"deprecated" which I understand means it is not recommended code to use. Given
the problem with Firefox, this makes sense.

Therefore it looks like I should play a sound using Flash, but I only have DW
CS3 and I don't want to buy a Flash development environment just yet due to
available funds! Is it possible to use some kind of a free download SWF file
to do this? Is there any such freebie anyone could recommend?
