IIRC in the default settings IE accepts everything, cookies, ActiveX,
Java, Javascript, worms, viruses ...

i think the default for most browsers is to accept cookies and allow them to
be read back again from the current domain.

Note- there's some other things that are happening.

First, the site the images are hosted on is giving a bandwidth exceeded
notice. So none of those images are showing up.
Ripway Web Hosting
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Download Blocked - User Transfer Limit Exceeded
------------------------------------------------------------------------

This account has exceeded its maximum 24 hour transfer limit. Please try
back later.

Second- because of the show/hide behavior to have a "please wait- loading"
message show- people with javascript off will Never see anything but the
"loading" message, because that layer is never hidden onLoad for them to
reveal the content.

exceeded thats why i said:

and about the layer, its working fine.

Yes, it's working fine if the viewer's browser has JavaScript enabled.

I can only speak for myself:

I only accept cookies if they are absolutely necessary (some shops for
example, the better shops also work without cookies). But if a site
prompts me with a cookie dialog the first time I visit it, I usually
press "deny" and disallow all cookies from that site. Especially cookies
from banner sites are a real plague, often used for user tracking.

Additionally there could arise a security problem with cookies,
Javascript and broken sites, vulnerable to cross-site-scripting (XSS).

So in general I like to have as less cookies as possible on my disk.
