Default PayPal buttons and shipping: how to not charge any shipping? - 11-06-2005 , 10:29 PM

Hi all

I have been browsing the PayPal web site for one hour now and I can't
figure out a way NOT to charge for shipping when creating a Buy Now button.
Has anybody had this problem before? know the solution?

If you login to your account at PayPal, click the "Profile" link, then
look in the third column (Selling Preferences) for the link to Shipping
Calculations. Click that link. You will see a form with various shipping
figures. Just enter zeros for all the shipping amounts.

If you need to charge shipping for some but not others, enter your
shipping figures in the form and make sure that the checkbox to Allow
Transaction-based shipping to override the profile shipping. Then, in
your Buy Now button, set the shipping to zero by adding shipping_1=0 to
the URL.

thanks Gary I tried that (Just enter zeros for all the shipping
amounts). But then I get an arror message saying the shipping values I
entered are invalid.
It seems PayPal has made it so that shipping cost is mandatory for buy
now buttons?...
Could this be true, or am I missing something obvious?

I've never used the Buy Now buttons, but I've written a shopping cart
that used PayPal. I just set it up so that the transaction can override
shipping. That worked okay.
