Default password protected page - 07-22-2004 , 11:55 AM

Hey everybody,
I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction on how to
password protect pages. I dont want to have to use databases, I basically just
want to have an intro page to my website, that requires the user to enter in a
general password that when the submit button (for example) is pressed, they are
allowed in to the rest of the site (provided the correct password was given).
Can this be done without databases?
Thanks
Mike M

It's not Fort Knox secure, but here are some client-side suggestions....

What kind of hosting? If it's Apache, look into .htaccess and .htpasswd.
