Default Page Counter - 09-15-2005 , 09:49 AM

I have not seen anything on this, and I'm wondering if it is even possible in
Dreamweaver. I want to put a hidden counter on my web page to track the number
of visitors that are comming to my website. Does anyone know how to do this?

You don't want to do that because hit counters don't track the number of
visitors that are coming to your web site.

Your server does that, and already has that information stored for you. All
you need to do is look at it. Most decent web hosts will already have web
log analysis tools set up for you. Contact them and see what they have.

Don't want to use statcounter.com? - not only do they give visitors to your
site but the referring path, the browser, and a whole ton of useful stats. But
you're right... your host should be able to provide that info

Right, you want the host to provide that. Statcounter is arguably better
than a hit counter, but will slow dow your site a bit and will only track
those with javascript.

No. Never.

External counting services may really slow down the loading of a
website.

Yep. A good host does.
