Does windows XP have an option for font smoothing?

The reason I ask is that I'm viewing <h2> <h3> tags in PC
IE6/NN7/FireFox and Opera6 and they look a bit rough around the edges to
say the least.

In Mac browsers, OSX, they look pretty smooth.

Cheers

Should have added I'm using Virtual PC on the Mac. Don't know if that
makes a difference.

Control panel -> display -> appearance -> effects -> font smoothing

This is of course a system thing, and can only be changed by the client

Yep. There must be an awful lot of people viewing jagged looking fonts
on screen.

Okay, please ignore me. It's early, I haven't finished my coffee, and I
didn't notice you were using a Mac with an emulator.

Doh!

(But anyone with Win XP who isn't using ClearType should be!)

Give me a break. Am I the only one who, before they have enough coffee, is
reading news groups with a brain emulator? And a trial version shareware one
at that......

I'm pretty sure that font smoothing is on by default in XP. There are
two stages -

1. Basic Font smooting, which works like OSX. That is, headings will be
smoothed, but not smaller body text. This is good on LCDs
2. Clear Type. I turned that off immediately. It looks horrid on my LCD
monitor - makes everything very smooth at the expense of crispness.
