Is it my imagination, or has this forum been awfully quiet for the past week
or two?

Well, summer is here in the northern hemisphere. I'm sure that has a bit to
do with it...

The web forum has been down for several days. You get a notice if you try
to go there, but it doesn't tell you what the problem is. There are also
links to direct people to this and other MM newsgroups, but I imagine that
many new users are intimidated by the the process of switching to a
newsreader.

Probably because you live in the US where we have a pathetic average of 2
weeks vacation.

Actually it's because I'm a freelancer. We don't get paid vacations no
matter where we live.

You should. ;o)

You should be charging enough during your billable hours to cover vacation
time. My freelance rate actually accounts for 4 weeks PTO a year (vacation
and/or sick).

I didn't say I don't take vacations, I said as a freelancer I don't get
"paid vacations." People on salary pay for their vacation, then come back
and get a paycheck for that time. I don't. I pay for my vacation, then come
back and don't get a penny for time I didn't work.

Don't worry, I'm used to it after all these years. *L*

I think we're in complete agreement...just wording it differently.

As a freelancer, your billable hours need to pay you for the time you work
while billable, the time you work while not billable, the time you take off,
and all yoru business expenses.

I think a lot of newbie freelancers just think 'hmm...$20 an hour sounds
good'...without thinking about the big picture ;o)

It sounds like you DO get paid for your vacation...you just got paid before
you left ;o)
