Default OT: stupid mouse question - 07-02-2004 , 09:30 PM

Silly question, but the other night my cordless mouse gave out on me and I
replaced it with a standby cord mouse.
Now my cordless is energised with some new batteries :-) I can't get my
keyboard functions back. F5 doesn't refresh, F12, doesn't bring up the
browser etc. I looked at the mouse settings but not very intuitive, doesn't
have an option for default......

How can I get my normal settings back again...

Nadia

Lacking any specific knowledge about your setup, the drastic solution
is to try blowing out all your mouse drivers, and letting your OS
autodetect the cordless mouse. Or does your cordless mouse have a
configuration utility? Where did it hide itself?

If you're on XP, you might also try doing a rollback of your system
configuration to before you installed the corded rodent.

For a complete system restore, from an Administrator account:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/getstarted/ballew_03may19.mspx

To roll back just the mouse driver:

%Device Manager%>Human Interface Devices>Appropriate Device>Driver tab>Roll Back Driver

Hi David,

I only have a connect button, no reset.. thanks anyway.
I've been working around it for now, but will try and find my original
mouse/keyboard disc and reload.
