Default OT: How dumb do spammers think we are? - 07-01-2004 , 09:34 AM

This in my in-box this a.m.:

Dear Customer,

This email was sent by the Citibank server to verify your E-mail
address. You must complete this process by clicking on the link
below and entering in the small window your Citibank Debit
Card number and PIN that you use on ATM.

Even if I **had** a Citbank visa!

It doesn't matter how dumb *we* are. As long as there ONE idiot among the
10,000 they send the email to, they profit.

10,000? You mean 10,000,000! And as HL Menken said, 'nobody ever lost
money underestimating the intelligence of the American consumer', or
something like that....

I can't remember what the dumb product was . . . something with practical
applications on the order of the "chattering teeth", but when asked what he
intended to do with such a useless item, the inventor replied, with a look
of incredulity,
"Why, I'm going to sell it to the American public!"
