Default OT: Auto Hits Generator - 10-24-2005 , 09:02 AM

Hi,
I stumbled on this application called Auto Hits Generator which promises to
send unlimited traffic to a site. Is this within the boundaries of spamming or
just a marketing gimmick?

If anyone has been using this application kindly advice.
Regards

I haven't used it, but I can almost guarantee you that it's a *useless*
marketing gimmick. Even if this company does manage to send traffic to your
site, it certainly won't be "unlimited", and it certainly won't be targeted
enough to be good for anything - unless the application is a skilled human
being who spends at least 10-20 hours a month focusing on marketing your web
site using a number of different techniques.

I seriously doubt that it will get you a better answer.

Why? It burns my bandwith without, as far as I know, a discernable
benefit. I guess there are some 'site ranking' sites which look at
traffic. The only 'ranking' I'm concerned about is that my site is
useful.

And I'm guessing that some advertising is done on the basis of eyeballs
rather than clickthroughs, so this would increase your ad revenue until
your advertisers figure out that you're scamming them.

What do you see as the benefit of using it?

well at least I got an answer.

the reason for using such an application is not really for ad generating
purposes. But when a client wants hell lot of traffic to his pathetic site and
fast, what do I do as a SE Optimizer. I have to give him something to keep
interested till I can put the site in a saleable situation.

What I am really looking for is someone who can give me a tip-off if what I am
doing here is not gonna get Google angry.

Anyways thanks for your reply.

regards

Well... I can only talk about my own experiences. I think there are 2
main things that will keep Google happy. Content! Relevant content with
the correct structure. Use H1, H2... and use them correctly. (You can
use one of the many image replacement techniques (this is my favorite
http://www.tjkdesign.com/articles/tip.asp) for your ONE h1 tag. Can give
you an advantage because of the alt and title tags (can be used creative
) You can have as many H2 etc as you want (AFAIK) but don't use
headings for decorative purposes! (Use strong or .class for this). The
use of keywords inside the text may also have a positive effect on
Googles mood.

Second thing is the tricky part. Incoming links and as many pages as
possible. Get the page on Dmoz (it can take forever) but it works.

This is of course just my own private opinion. It may be as good as any
of the advices you can get doing a search for "SEO" because I think it's
only Google that knows for sure what makes Google happy

And what happens when none of those thousands of hits generates any
business at all? Are you ready to explain that?

Google is a fickle being to propitiate. Well-structured pages with
relevant content seems to be the common denominator for approaches that
actually work.

And the more people try to "trick" google, the quicker they'll get their
sites baned! Smart folks.
