Default opening cgi in a browser - 07-19-2004 , 12:37 PM

Hi,

I have downloaded a search script (from:
http://www.focalmedia.net/fmsitesearchpro.html )

and altered the .cgi and .pm files in dw. I am now attempting to preview one
of these files which should now be functional, in my browser buit to no avail.
I have checked and re-checked the path to the server but it all seems fine

The reason I need to open the setup.cgi file in the browser is because it has
soemthing I need to fill in.

when I try to open the file it either opens up in dw automatically, opens
looking a right old mess in the browser or recommends the ms website - which
just tells me what cgi means and offers me a link to a fuller definition.

any ideas?

thanks as always, in anticipation.

Hi,

thanks for your response.

I have been able to open it in dw, no problem in code view - i may have added
the extension .html to the file. I was able to alter the relevant settings and
then save it again as a .cgi file.

I have looked at it in notepad but still cannot get it to open in the browser
window as a proper document, unless I add the .html etenson to it, but even
then it will not open as a functioning page.

further ideas welcomed, thanks in anticipation.
