Open Site Files error

Whenever I open a local copy of a file the Background connect to site window opens and connects to FTP to the web. Can I disabl this? It gets in the way when the window pops up.

Tell me what is on the Local site advanced tab, and the Remote site advanced
tab in the site definition panel, please.

Do you have a testing server defined?

Do you NEED a testing server? That is - are you building dynamic or static
pages?
